The new trailer for Inside Out 2 has been released.
The first teaser for the follow-up to the 2015 masterpiece has debuted, and it looks like Joy has her work cut out for her.
The original film followed 11-year-old Riley and the five emotions in her brain, which were Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), Fear (Bill Hader) and Anger (Lewis Black).
However, in the new trailer, Riley blows out the candles to her birthday cake and it marks the beginning of puberty.
Her emotions are violently interrupted by a ‘demolition day’, which sees the arrival of a bright new orange character: Anxiety.
The trailer has already gained over two million views, with many absolutely drooling over the sneak peek.
One person wrote: “This sequel is going to be absolute fire!”
Another said: “They absolutely nailed the design of anxiety. I could instantly tell what they were just by one look.”
While a third shared: “Unlike a lot of other Pixar sequels, this one actually makes sense to exist. Having them deal with Riley’s adolescence is the logical next step from the first.”
While Poehler and Black are returning, Variety reported that Kaling and Hader haven’t reprised their characters over salary disputes.
They have been replaced by Tony Hale and Liza Lapira, who voiced the emotions of Fear and Disgust, respectively.
The first film was a commercial and critical success, earning 858.8 million at the box office and 98 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes.
It even received an Academy Award for Best Animated Film.
The follow-up film was announced in 2022 at Disney’s D23 Expo.
Kelsey Mann directs the flick, while Meg LeFauve, who co-wrote the first film, also serves as writer for the second film.
The sequel is set to release in theaters on June 14 next year almost nine years after the first film.
