Selected Tesla fan articles can be paid for with Dogecoin
DOGE course picks up sharply
First products already sold out Back in December, Tesla CEO Elon Musk helped meme currency Dogecoin to soar when he announced that the carmaker would soon be making it possible to purchase Tesla merchandise using cryptocurrency DOGE. Now he followed his words with deeds: As of this Friday, customers in the Tesla shop can pay for certain products with DOGE, as Elon Musk announced on Twitter.

The step caused enthusiasm among crypto fans: The price of the Dogecoin rose sharply as a result.

DOGE with course jump

With his tweet, Elon Musk once again proved why he is also considered the “DoGFather”: According to “CoinMarketCap”, the price of the cryptocurrency DOGE rose by around 18 percent on Friday to $0.2032, against the general trend on the crypto market . The day before, the digital currency had cost 0.172 US dollars. However, it is still a long way from its all-time high of 0.7376 US dollars, which the cyber currency marked last May. Do you want to invest in cryptocurrencies? Our guides explain how to do it within 15 minutes:

Buy Bitcoin, Buy Ripple, Buy IOTA, Buy Litecoin, Buy Ethereum, Buy Monero. Nevertheless, according to “CoinMarketCap”, the DOGE is one of the few major cryptocurrencies that has been able to achieve a performance plus in the last 24 hours – and it probably owes this solely to the tweet from the Tesla boss. The prices of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and numerous other digital currencies are all in the red compared to the previous day.

First Tesla fan articles already sold out

But the step was not only well received on the crypto market, the Tesla shop was apparently also heavily used shortly after the announcement. For example, the Cyberwhistle – a whistle that looks like Tesla’s Cybertruck – is already sold out again. After Elon Musk’s tweet, it was apparently available for a short time for a mere 300 DOGE – the equivalent of around 60 US dollars.

Tesla fans and Dogecoin owners from the USA can still access items such as a belt buckle for 835 DOGE and the Cyberquad for children for 12,020 DOGE. In the German Tesla shop, on the other hand, the Tesla decanter for 825 DOGE and a Cybertruck graffiti cap for 205 DOGE are available, for example. In terms of payment, the shop states that “the Dogecoin is a cryptocurrency that you can use to purchase this item”, but it seems to be the only payment method for the items mentioned. On the corresponding product pages there is only one button for ordering via DOGE payment. So Tesla seems to be very consistent here. Furthermore, Tesla points out that no other digital currencies are accepted. “Tesla only accepts Dogecoin. Tesla cannot receive or recognize any other digital assets,” the help section says. Here, too, the Dogefather apparently remains true to himself. Editorial team finanzen.netImage sources: Virrage Images / Shutterstock.com, Bill Pugliano/Getty Images
