Kelly Clarkson is pleased to learn that Patrick Dempsey has been crowned People’s 2023 Sexiest Man Alive.
The 41-year-old talk show host — who recently debuted drastic weight loss — spoke with Access Hollywood while attending the SiriusXM Next Generation: Industry & Press Preview.
During the red carpet interview the songstress expressed shock that Dempsey, 57, hadn’t received the honor previously.
‘He’s never had it?’ she asked. ‘What?! That’s so shocking to me that he’s never had it before. I would have thought that would’ve been like a second or third time around. Boy, we really messed that one up.’
She also jokingly brought up 2017 winner Blake Shelton as she said, ‘And Blake got it!’ before quickly clarifying, ‘I’m just kidding! I’m just kidding! Blake deserved it.’
Kelly also complimented the former Grey’s Anatomy actor as she noted he has ‘great hair.’
Dempsey’s ‘sexiest man alive’ title comes after last year it was granted to Chris Evans.
He admitted he was shocked to receive the honor and joked he is ‘always the bridesmaid’ as he spoke about finally achieving the accolade.
‘I’ve always been the bridesmaid! I’d completely forgotten about it and never even contemplated being in this position. So my ego is good,’ he said.
He is the second oldest star to earn the title; Sean Connery was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 1989 when at the age of 59.
Patrick’s turn as the magazine’s sexiest star was announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live Tuesday evening.
The show featured an appearance from the ex-Grey’s Anatomy leading man, 57, while the cover of the issue was shown.
‘Thank you very much,’ the actor, who is father to daughter Talula, 21, and twin sons Darby and Sullivan, 16, with wife Jillian, 57, said after the news was shared.
As for Kelly, she’s recently turned heads with her transformative shedding of extra pounds.
On Monday’s episode of her eponymous talk show she bonded with Jenna Bush Hager over having a ‘chubby’ phase.
The Stronger hitmaker discussed weight struggles with the co-host of Today With Hoda & Jenna and admitted that she ‘loves losing weight.’
In June 2018, she told Extra that most of her weight gain was due to an autoimmune disease and thyroid condition she was diagnosed with in 2006.
