Handball European Championship 2022 | Germany vs. Belarus: Where will the EM be broadcast on TV and stream?

From January 13th to 30th, the 24 best national teams on the continent will be looking for the new European Handball Champion. Germany will first face Belarus on Friday evening (from 6:00 p.m.) and want to collect the first points for the main round there. How strong is the German team? Who are the top favourites? Where can you see the DHB team of national coach Alfred Gislason on TV? sport.de answers all questions. The current title holders of the biggest tournaments start as favorites in the European Championship, which will be held in Slovakia and Hungary this year. France, as Olympic champions, is given the best chance of winning the European Championship cup alongside top favorites and world champions Denmark. Meanwhile, reigning champions Spain are dreaming of their third European title in a row, but have to do without two crucial personal details. Long-time leading player Raúl Enterrios has ended his international career, backcourt star Alex Dujshebaev is injured.

How strong is Germany in the European Handball Championship?

The German national handball team is no longer given outsider chances. After the resignation of many former top performers around ex-captain Uwe Gensheimer, defense chief Hendrik Pekeler and 2007 world champion Johannes Bitter, the DHB team regrouped and traveled to Bratislava for the first group game with a heavily changed formation. Surviving the preliminary round group D with Belarus, Austria and Poland is the minimum goal, but after that it should already be tight. Reaching the semi-finals would already mean a great success for national coach Alfred Gislason and his transformed team.
