Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel “Der Wüstenplanet” (The Desert Planet) was filmed with a huge budget and a star cast. The focus is on the desert planet Arrakis with the valuable substance Spice, for which good and evil forces fight. The 2021 film grossed nearly $400 million worldwide.
