The number of corona infections is also increasing rapidly in Brandenburg. The state government has therefore decided on further restrictions, which particularly affect gastronomy. In addition, FFP2 masks must be worn on buses and trains in the future. Brandenburg introduces the 2G+ regulation in the catering trade and thus implements a corresponding decision by the federal and state governments. From Monday, only those who have been vaccinated or have recovered with a negative corona test or people with a booster vaccination will have access to restaurants, pubs or bars. That led to many discussions, said Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) on Friday after the cabinet meeting. “But in a restaurant it’s just not possible to wear a mask all the time. That’s the difference to other facilities.” However, Brandenburg is softening the corona rule somewhat: the 2G plus restriction does not apply if the burden on the health system decreases. According to the information, this is the case if the nationwide hospitalization incidence no longer exceeds the threshold value of 6 for seven days in a row, i.e. the corona traffic light is yellow. In addition, the proportion of Covid-19 patients in the intensive care beds actually available must not exceed the limit of 10. (Corona traffic light: green). The 7-day hospitalization incidence is currently 2.9 and the proportion of corona patients in intensive care beds is 15.4 percent. Brandenburg is also introducing mandatory FFP2 masks in local public transport. At peak times, many people would use local transport, explained Woidke. “It’s difficult to keep your distance and the risk of infection is high.” The Brandenburg Hotel and Restaurant Association criticized the previously announced stricter access rules for the catering industry. With the introduction of the 2G+ regulation, companies would face further sales losses. “I can no longer understand the talk that you should get infected in our restaurants,” said Dehoga President Olaf Schöpe. So far, there are hardly any known cases in which the catering facilities or hotels were the starting point of infection chains. “We are not part of the problem.” The Brandenburg state government plans to give the districts and independent cities a recommendation for the new rules on corona quarantine in the next week. The health authorities should be informed about this, also with instructions for a uniform implementation, said the spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Gabriel Hesse, on Thursday in Potsdam. Clear guidelines from the federal government are necessary as a legal basis for this. The federal and state governments had agreed on the new quarantine regulations last week. The Federal Council wants to decide on Friday. In the state of Berlin, those quarantine and isolation rules will apply from Friday (January 14).
