AMD will reveal more details about 3D V-Cache soon

01/14/2022 at 16:21 by Oliver Jäger – At this year’s International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC), which is only held virtually, AMD is scheduled to hold a technical demonstration of its 3D V-Cache, which is used in the recently introduced Ryzen 7 5800X3D. According to the event schedule, the unveiling will take place on February 23. As part of CES 2022, AMD presented the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, with which one wants to send a clear signal towards the competitor Intel. In an interview, AMD’s Director of Technical Marketing spoke about the CPU being said to be the fastest in the gaming sector. This is due to the 3D V-Cache, which should significantly speed up the equipped processors in games. Only recently, however, the question arose whether the new gaming CPU with 3D V-Cache could end up as a limited edition, since according to information from Digitimes there are limited production capacities at TSMC and Zen 4 CPUs should already be available later in the year.

Technical unveiling of the 3D V-Cache at the ISSCC

AMD’s 3D V-Cache will play a special role in the coming month. Because in February, the International Solid-State Circuits Conference will take place in San Francisco for several days in a row. The difference this time is that the organizers have decided to hold the ISSCC virtually. According to the schedule of events, demonstration sessions on industrial chips are to be held on February 23. Recommended editorial contentHere you will find external content from [PLATTFORM]. Session 26 is about systems and quantum computing, in which AMD is also entered with the technical unveiling of the 3D V-Cache. The session item is titled “3D V-Cache: The Implementation of a Hybrid-Bound 64MB Stacked Cache for a 7nm x86-64 CPU.” According to the plan, AMD representatives from three US locations are responsible for supervising the demonstration. The ISSCC is primarily aimed at developers of ICs and SoCs as well as students who are completing their studies in this field. The event is intended to show current developments in the areas mentioned and also offer opportunities for networking among the participants. 07:11
