What Is Data Encryption

Data encryption refers to a process of converting data to some other form or code so that one having access to some password or secret key can read or cipher the encrypted data. The process of data encryption has become an indispensable tool for safeguarding the privacy of data for all organizations. The encrypted data is familiar as the cyphered data and the non encrypted ones are known as plain texts. Encryption in today's world is known to be one of the most effective tool for ensuring data security.

Two main types of data encryption processes that are known to exist are Asymmetric or Public Key Encryption and Symmetric encryption. The primary aim of data encryption is to protect digital data from being encroached upon. Digital data is easily transmitted through internet and computed networks and their privacy is hampered. Modern encryption processes have presently hit the market by replacing the way old, outdated processes of encryption. The new upgraded encryption processes that have come up, ensure confidentiality and authenticity. For encryption, the origin of the data or the message is verified and then it is conditioned in such a manner that the message sender does not remain in a situation to deny his sending the message and until the message is sent, integrity is never compromised with, that is the message contents cannot be changed in any way. The processes involved in data encryption tend to be a bit cumbersome and complex and they at times lead to the loss of important data. Thus, several data loss protection software have been launched to handle the issue. No matter what, it can be said that protecting the privacy of confidential or important official or personal data is very important and data encryption has made the task easy, undoubtedly, in today's digital world.
